What is a Carrier Extract?
For those who are just new to the aromatherapy game, you wouldn’t have the faintest clue that a carrier extract is a vital ingredient that when paired with an essential extract works to unlock its true wonders. Stemming from natural sources such as nuts or seeds, it carries the essential extract to allow it to be used in aromatherapy, beauty, skincare, and hair care practices. Unlike essential extracts, they are not co-dependent meaning they can be independently used with or without any other ingredients. This makes them neutral, alas – the perfect pair for an essential extract. They reduce the potency of the essential extract all while complementing its divine gift. There are many examples of carrier extracts such as grapeseed, coconut, sweet almond, and as mentioned, Macadamia Oil. When mixed with essential extracts this creates a magic that makes you wonder at all the miracles Mother Nature brings to the Earth. Macadamia Oil on its own holds special power, providing a variety of skin, hair, and relaxation benefits. We will be uncovering more about Macadamia Oil in focus in the next few sections, its advantages, and uses in more detail.
What is Macadamia Oil?
Macadamia Oil originates from a tropical evergreen tree that can be found in Australia, Hawaii, New Zealand, and South Africa. There is even evidence of trees surrounding South American countries including, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Guatemala. How Macadamia Oil is created is through cold pressing the nuts in order to keep the vital ingredients to store for later use. What comes out is a beautiful golden drop of liquid goodness with a distinct nutty aroma. Because its chemical makeup is similar to the likes of sebum, which is the emollient that naturally develops in the skin, it is the most reliable and popular skincare ingredient among beauty users across the globe. On top of this, Macadamia Oil is incredibly easy, breezy, and non-greasy, providing an ultra-smooth feel when applied on skin or hair. In this way, Macadamia Oil pairs exceptionally well in addition to essential and carrier extracts, which is why it’s so predominately used in a variety of commercial beauty products.
