Fresh off of the success of their Indie Soul, star studded Lauryn Hill tribute event of spring 2009 at Temple M in Harlem, Injoy Enterprises (www.injoyenterprises.com) and Make It Happen Entertainment (www.myspace.com/mihemusic) presents “Revisiting Marvin: From What’s Going On to Let’s Get It On. The show will pay homage to the man and his music by having some of the most progressive independent Soul artists on the scene today, perform his 2 best selling albums: “What’s Going On” and “Let’s Get It On” from top to bottom, in their entirety.

His biography and discography are twin reflections of the same dualty: the artistic and personal struggle to heal the split between head and heart, flesh and spirit, ego and God. Meanwhile, the music lives on for the pleasures of its beauty and the marvel that was Marvin’s voice.

Jackson tribute ‘badly organized’

The mayor of Vienna has admitted that the Michael Jackson tribute concert that was expected to be held in Austria’s capital was badly organised.
Mayor Michael Haupl told the city’s council the show would have been “very interesting… had it been properly prepared and organised but it was not”.
Organisers cancelled the planned 26 September concert after struggling to find major stars to perform.
A replacement show has been planned for June next year, in London.
Vienna authorities had initially agreed to subsidise the tribute at Schönbrunn Palace and planned to give organisers 600,000 euros (£550,000) after city experts estimated the event’s advertising value to be around 35m euros (£32.1m).
But the funding was pulled on 11 September when the concert’s organisers – led by Michael Jackson’s brother, Jermaine – failed to present the “top stars” promised to perform at the event.
Short notice
Vice Mayor Renate Brauner said, at the time: “The advertising value is unlikely to be as high as we had initially expected it to be. We will call off all talks with the organisers.”
Later the same day, the concert was cancelled – with Jermaine Jackson admitting “numerous stars were just not able to change their schedules” at such short notice.
MTV VMA’s: Kanye West Acts a Fool Again (Apologizes Later), Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift Light Up Show, Janet & Madonna Pay Tribute to MJ and more…

A blood-spurting Lady Gaga, a stage-busting Kanye West, a thrilling Michael Jackson tribute, an acrobatic Pink, the classiest move in VMA history and more surprises than even we could have predicted. That was the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, which stormed New York’s legendary Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night (September 13) with more jaw-dropping moments than a season’s worth of “The Hills.”
In addition to wins for VMA regulars like Beyoncé, Green Day and Eminem, a couple of future icons, Gaga and Taylor Swift, got their first Moonmen in a show that was as barely contained as host Russell Brand’s raging libido.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will feature a number of huge performances from the likes of Jay-Z, Green Day, Beyoncé and others, but perhaps the highest-profile act on Sunday night’s show will be Janet Jackson’s tribute to her brother Michael.
Though the details about the tribute remain closely guarded, fans have already built up expectations for the bit that will open this year’s awards.
“I think it’s really fitting, and obviously she’ll do him justice,” said Katie Smith from the U.K. Her traveling companion, Jen Birch, agreed. “It’s a bold move. He was just so good, but if anyone can do it she can,” she said.
“It’s going to be special. Everyone will be really happy that she’s doing it,” Jordan Kearny said.
The fans agree that the performance will clearly be out of a special kind of enthusiasm and will come from the heart. “She’s the best candidate, because she was probably one of the people who knew him the best,” Jennifer Kaufman said.
