Tigerlily Foundation will host its 2nd Annual DIVA (Divine Inspired Vivacious Aware) Night Out

On May 15, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tigerlily Foundation will host its 2nd Annual DIVA (Divine Inspired Vivacious Aware) Night Out, to benefit programs supporting young women with breast cancer. The theme of this year’s event is “Garden Fashion Sioree”.  The event will  be held at the celebrated Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 1330 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC, and hosted by Paul Wharton (Celebrity Stylist) and Cynne’ Simpson (ABC 7 News Anchor), this elegant garden fashion show event will be the affair of the season.  Opening with a mother/daughter breast cancer survivor fashion show, attendees will also enjoy cocktails and light fare, shopping with awesome vendors, a pamper room, swag bags and a silent auction.  Sponsors include Gannett, Pepsi, Whole Foods, Phyto Lerac, Nubian Heritage, State Farm and CDW.

This event is going to be amazing, and most importantly, will allow the Foundation to continue to do its important work.  We would love for you to attend the event or sponsor.  Tickets are $125 for general admission and $200 for VIP admission.

We also  offer various sponsorship levels, from $250 to $10,000.  Every ticket and/or level of sponsorship will make an impact.    Even If you can’t attend, please donate or buy a ticket for a friend.  To support as a sponsor or buy tickets, visit http://www.tigerlilyfoundation.org/diva010.html.  Your donations are tax-deductible.  Sponsorship offers many benefits; some levels also allow your sponsorship dollars to enable a young breast cancer survivor to attend the event at no cost. Charlie Murphy’s Wife Dies After Battle With Cancer

Picture-171We have some sad news to report. Tisha Taylor Murphy, the wife of comedian and actor Charlie Murphy passed away last night in the couple’s home in New Jersey.

According to his publicist, “Tisha Taylor Murphy, wife of comedian and actor Charlie Murphy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, with family at her side after facing the challenges of cancer for the past two years. The Murphy Family appreciates all the support they have received from friends and fans and requests privacy during this very difficult time.”

Roxanne Shante (aka Lolita Shante Gooden) is widely recognized as the first female hip hop artist to break through the male dominated industry. The rapper recently spoke to blackvoices.com and shared some insight on her very real life battle with breast cancer … in her own words:

In March, I noticed a lump in my left breast, rather small at the time and didn’t really know what I was feeling. So instead of going straight to the doctor’s office, I started asking friends their opinion and trying to go by their experiences. It was such a stupid move. Well, I figured I was just getting older. A hysterectomy in my early thirties led me to believe that I would be fine. Another stupid move.
