MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer has apologized for mixing up civil rights activists Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

She made the slip-up Wednesday while introducing Jackson during a segment on homelessness.

After the introduction, Jackson stared at the camera from a studio in Burbank, Calif., and said, “I’m Rev. Jesse Jackson.”

Brewer explained that her script read that she was to introduce “the Rev. Al Sharpton.”

Sharpton seeks rejection of Limbaugh

The Rev. Al Sharpton wants the National Football League to block conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh from bidding on the St. Louis Rams.

Sharpton sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday. He said Limbaugh has been divisive and “anti-NFL” in some of his comments.

Activists Continue Defense of Black Radio

Rev. Al Sharpton was among the activists who attended a town hall-style meeting today where more criticism was aimed at recent legislation that some say threatens Black radio.

A representative for Congressman John Conyers, who pushed the so-called performance tax bill, met at Detroit’s Wayne State University with opponents who argue that the law will put many Black broadcast outlets out of business.

Radio One corporation boss Cathy Hughes has been among the high-profile leaders leading the campaign to have the legislation repealed since it was announced last month.

Critics argue that the bill’s reported stipulation that some stations pay a fee to foreign-owned record companies in order to play music, is kryptonite to struggling radio stations.

Already, one formerly Black station has been lost to ownership by the Catholic Church, Hughes states in a public service announcement.

T.I. And Al Sharpton Speak Out Against Gun Violence

T.I. recently had time to chop it up with friends Young Jeezy and Nelly as they took in the Atlanta Hawks playoff game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta’s Philips Arena. Soon after, the King of the South made his way from his hometown up to Harlem, New York, to join forces with the Reverend Al Sharpton and his National Action Network to speak out against gun violence following the tragic the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Corey Squire.

Just days away from beginning his jail sentence for felony weapons charges, a relaxed Tip addressed the many onlookers who came out to show their support for the “Bury Da Beef” campaign.

“First of all, I want to apologize to everyone,” T.I. said, referring to his own publicized weapons case. He also talked about the mistakes he’s made and explained why he’s the perfect person to speak to the youth today.
